Pyromas A is an intumescent sealant that combines water-based acrylic emulsion with fillers to deliver high levels of fire resistance across various building applications. This one-part, solvent-free sealant undergoes a chemical reaction when exposed to fire, forming a safe, inorganic meringue that provides reliable fire sealing for joints in concrete, wood, and metal. Pyromas A effectively seals building joints up to 35mm wide. Performance: Fire resistance tests, conducted in accordance with BS476: Part 20: 1987, demonstrated 4 hours of fire resistance in gaps up to 35mm wide. These tests were carried out on various substrates, including hardwood, softwood, steel, concrete, vermiculite board, and aerated concrete. Pyromas A exhibits strong resistance to a wide range of common chemicals, although care should be taken to prevent prolonged contact with hydrocarbon-based products. Applications Method: • Pyromas A is ideal for use as a permanent fire seal in low-movement joints, gaps between door frames and walls, dry lining, and partitions. • Joints must be dry, clean, and free of dust or powder before application. • For optimal fire performance, Pyromas A should be applied to the correct depth. To achieve a smooth surface finish, the sealant can be smoothed with a spatula. • Once cured, the sealant can be over-painted. Method of Estimating Quantities for Pyromas A: To calculate the required number of cartridges required to fill a gap use the following equation: W x D x L = N N÷310= Number of Cartridges W=Width of gap in mm. D=Depth of gap in mm.
